The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized around five tonnes of juvenile Hilsha from a passenger launch in the Dhaleswari river in Munshiganj.According to the force’s Pagla station, Dhaka-bound motor vessel Mahin Rifat was carrying the fish fries.Catching of Hilsa fries less than 10 centimetres in length is banned in the country.
Station Commander Syed M Kashed said papers of the launch had been seized but there were no arrests.He said the fish were later distributed among various madrasas.
