A report “Many students of Shylhet and Baniachong have not got the text books yet though they have passed the annual examination a month ago” published in a Bengali daily has drawn my attention. The students of grade nine of Shylhet Agragami Government High School do not have some of their text books particularly science text books. This is a common scenario across the country particularly in the rural areas.BRAC, the largest NGO in the world has opened a few schools in the remote areas of Habigong and Sunamgonj. The students of around 300 of the two schools in Baniachong upazila of the Habigonj district have got no text books. Upazila Parisha chairman and Secretary of an upazila level political leader were reported involved in non-distribution of text books among the students. This is really a matter of shame for the nation. The blame all failures on those who are in the opposition. Not only that retaining and continuing in power seem to be the only goals.
