Foreign currency worth Taka 14 million recovered from Airport

Dhaka – Members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport foiled a foreign currency smuggling bid seizing currency worth around Tk 1,40 crore from two Malaysia bound passengers prior to board into a flight on Wednesday night The arrested passengers are –Samar Uddin, 41, and Md Ismail, 31.The two passengers were challenged by the AAP members for thier suspecious movement near departure gate no-3 at around 9:00 pm. They were scheduled to fly for Kualalumpur by an aircraft of Bangladesh Biman Airlines, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (AAP) of the AAP Tanjina Khatun.
Searching them, the AAP members recovered foreign currencies of various countries, mostly Saudi Arabian, kept inside their shoes, she added.
During interrogation, the arrested two outgoing passengers revealed that they were involved in currency smuggling for a long time, ASP Tanjina said. – News Desk
