Forged Indian currency notes seized, two held

Police arrested two alleged smugglers with 200 fake Indian currency notes from a passenger bus at Jhalmalia checkpoint on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway under Puthiya Upazila of the district today, police sources said.The detained persons were identified as Sadequl Islam, 40, and Seher Ali, 50, both hailed from Kaligonj village under Shibgonj Upazila of Chapainawabgonj district.

On a tip-off, a police team stopped a Dhaka bound bus and held them from inside the vehicle. Subsequently, the police team seized 200 fake currency notes with denomination of Rs 500 each after frisking them.A case was recorded in this connection. -BSS, Rajshahi
