Founding anniversary of Khulna celebrated

People from all walks of life today celebrated the 133rd founding anniversary of Khulna with enthusiasm and festivity here.Organized by Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee (GKDACC), the celebrations began with a colourful procession which paraded different city streets.Over three thousands people joined the procession with festoons and placards. They included Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdus Samad, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mostofa Kamal, City Unit Awami League President and General Secretary Talukder Abdul Khaleque, MP, and Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Moniruzzaman Mony, City Unit BNP President Nazrul Islam Monzu and Joint Secretary General of Jatiya Party Shafiqul Islam Modhu and leaders of different socio-cultural, political parties and civil society members.
Later, a discussion was held at GKDACC office with its president Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman in the chair.The speakers recalled the contributions of the sons of Khulna, including Sheikh Abu Naser, younger brother of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, AL leaders and former ministers Abdul Aziz and Sheikh Salahuddin Yousuf, ex-MNA M A Bari, Mohsin Hossain, renowned scientist Acharchy Profulla Chandra Biswas, Mosto Gousul Haque, F M Abdul Zalil.Among others, Khulna Divisional Commissioner M Abdus Samad, lawmakers Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Mayor of KCC Moniruzzaman Mony, addressed the discussion.
The speakers hailed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her decision to construct an airport in Bagerhat and expressed satisfaction over the passage of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) Bill in the Indian Parliament (Loksabha) on Thursday. -BSS, Khulna
