Free operations conducted for VVF patients in Rangpur

Specialist surgeons have conducted free operations for 20 extremely poor female patients suffering from vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) diseases at Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital (RCMCH) in the city.The RCMCH authority arranged the cost-free surgeries on Friday and Saturday for the poor female VVF patients under financial assistance of the Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS).Under the management of Dhaka Rotary Club and Rangpur Rotary Club, BRAC provided technical cooperation in conducting free operations for the VVF patients at the RCMCH operation theatre.The specialist surgeons and physicians from Dhaka Medical College, BIRDEM Hospital at Dhaka, Suhrawardy Hospital at Dhaka, Kumudini Hospital at Tangail and RCMCH participated in conducting the surgical operations.Noted gynecology specialists, surgeons and physicians Professor Dr Anwara Begum, Professor Farhana Dewan, Dr Bilkis, Dr Taufika Tuli, Dr Soma Podder, Anesthesia Specialist Professor Dr Khalilur Rahman, Dr Saidur Rahman, Dr Arman and Dr Selim Reza conducted the operations.
Earlier, Director (Hospital) of RCMCH Dr Abdul Baki Sarker formally inaugurated the two-day free medical surgery camp in the opening ceremony at the hospital premises on Friday as the chief guest. Additional Director (Hospital) of RCMCH Shahid Sarker, Additional Director (Foundation and Community Health Programme) Mirajul Mohsin, Senior Regional Coordinator of BRAC Dr Moazzem Hossain, its Rangpur Regional Manager Arif Ahmed, Senior Managers Dipta Sundar Fouzdar and Ashraful Islam were present. -BSS, Rangpur
