A freedom fighter was killed as a truck knocked down his bicycle at Paikpara in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore district on Monday night.The deceased was identified as Abdul Wadud Khan, a resident of Meherpur village of the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Bagharpara Police Station Kaiyum Ali said a speeding truck hit the bicycle of Wadud in the area in the afternoon when he was going to Bagharpara from Khajura Bazar of Jessore riding it, leaving him seriously injured.He was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 9:45 pm. Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.Police also seized the truck and arrested its driver Selim and his helper Shahinur.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Benapole
