Fresh hartal from Sunday if demand not met: 20-Party

The BNP-led 20-party opposition alliance may call another spell of hartal from Sunday prolonging the uncertainties on roads and highways and sufferings of ordinary people.
“The ongoing blockade programme will continue. Tough action including hartal will be enforced further from next Sunday if the government does not accept the demand of the people in the meantime,” said BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed from on behalf o the alliance.
In a press statement he accused the government of putting its entire state machinery face to face with people.
The BNP leader also reiterated the vow to continue the ongoing movement until the demand for holding an inclusive poll under a non-partisan government is met.
Terming the ruling Awami League as hawking the militancy, he alleged the prime minister and her colleagues continued to sing in chorus comparing the opposition parties including the BNP with IS, Al Qaeda, Taliban, Boko Haram and underground parties.
Apparently in to reply the Prime Minister’s statement given in Parliament that Khaleda Zia wants to go to prison, the BNP leader alleged that after withdrawal ofall of her own cases, now the premier was threatening Khaleda with jail.
Salahuddin alleged that the ruling party is continuously trying to shift the responsibility of bomb making and their explosion to the opposition to foil the ongoing movement after carrying out those by party terrorists.
Referring to the newspaper report of recovering 1,584 crude bombs and catching red-handed some Chhatra League and Juba League activists from the home of AL leader and UP chairman of Fultala in Moulavi Bazar by BGB, he claimed that it proved the involvement of government in acts of sabotage.
In the statement, the 20-party alliance expressed concerned over arrest of Ekushey TV journalist Kanak Sarwar, who has been placed him on remand and demanded the release of Sarwar and withdrawal of the case aginst him.
The statement also demanded the release of all political prisoners including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. – Staff Reporter
