Awami League MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency Manjurul Islam Liton was shot dead in a gun attack at Bamandanga village in Sundarganj upazila on Saturday.Police super of the district Ashraful Islam said two unidentified men entered Liton’s house around 6 pm saying they wanted to meet him.As the unsuspecting MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency came to the guestroom to see them, the gunmen opened fire on him.Hit by two bullets in the chest, Liton was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he died around 7:37pm, said officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station Atiar Rahman.Liton hit headlines after shooting a minor boy, Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village in the upazila, on October 2 last year.
