An alleged ringleader of an inter-district robber gang was reportedly killed in a gunfight with police in Kushundi Boro Bridge area of Magura Sadar upazila early Monday.The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam alias Litan Hossain Molla, 33, son of Idris Molla, a resident of Azampur area of the upazila.He was accused in three robbery cases filed with Magura Sadar police Station and Kushtia Sadar Police Station.
Sudarshan Kumar Roy, officer-in-charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, said a team of police conducted a drive there.Sensing the presence of the police personnel, the robbers opened fire at the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight around 1am, added the OC.The gunfight left Aminul bullet-injuried.Later, he was rushed to Magura Sadar Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.Four policemen were also injured in the incident, he claimed.Police also recovered a 9-mm pistol, one magazine, five rounds of bullets and two machetes from the spot.
