A woman was killed and another person injured as a gas cylinder exploded in the city’s Dhaniya under Jatrabari Police Station on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Josna Begum, 36, wife of Mosharraf Hossain Fulchand of 576 Dhaniya Bazar while the injured is Anwar Hossain, 22, a balloon vendor and tenant of Josna. Quoting deceased’s family members, sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said the gas cylinder went off with a big bang in the evening while Anwar was filling it with gas outside the building, leaving Anwar and Josna who came down before the blast, critically injured. The right hand of Anwar was blown off in the explosion. The injured were rushed to the DMCH where doctors declared Josna dead at about 6:45 pm. The condition of Anwar was also stated to be critical. – UNB
