Gazipur city polls: Ajmat unveils manifesto

Ruling 14-party alliance-backed mayoral runner in the maiden Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election Ajmat Ullah on Sunday placed a 10-point election manifesto, promising to make the city modern, planned and beautiful one.“If elected mayor, I’ll form a law and order committee at every ward involving the civil society members to ensure the security of public life and property, contain terrorism, extortion, drug peddling and improve the law and order situation,” he said.
Ajmat announced the manifesto through a press conference at a community centre in the city.
Pledging to make a transparent city administration free from corruption, Ajmat said he will also form a city development coordination committee to give the city a modern look.
The mayoral hopeful also promised to set up five modern zonal offices to provide better services to the city dwellers. “I’ll also take effective measures under a master plan to resolve water-logging in the city.”
He also promised to work for the development of education in the city to ensure better healthcare for all and create jobs and improve the lifestyle of the city residents.
The manifesto includes easing traffic congestion in the city, improving road communications and drainage system, ensuring smooth supply of gas, water and power and constructing bridges, culverts, a park, a stadium of international standard, developing sports, playgrounds, ensuring cultural development, and carrying out religious and social welfare activities.
