Gazipur Mayoral candidates promise to build a clean city

Dhaka, April 30 – The mayoral candidates in Gazipur City Corporation polls Monday Promised to build a clean and modern city as well as solve the important problems of city peoples. They also placed their various plans to solve these problems and ensured city peoples to provide all necessary action. By implementing these commitments of the candidates, city peoples requested them for building Gazipur as a living city. The seven mayoral aspirants made the promises at a programme titled ‘Jonogoner Mukhomukhi’ (face-to- face with the people) organized by Sushasoner Jonno Nagarik (Sujan) at Joydebpur convention center in Gazipur city on Monday.
Sujon Gazipur district and city unit organized the programme while president of the organization Dr. Bodiul Alam Mojumder and president of Gazipur city unit Monirul Islam Razib were present among others.
The seven candidates are the Awami League nominated candidate advocate Mohammed Jahangir Alam, BNP nominated candidate Alhaj Hasan Uddin Sarker, Comunist Party of Bangladesh nominated candidate Kazi Mohammed Ruhul Amin, Islami Okkay Jote nominated candidate Fazlur Rahman, Bangladesh Islami Front nominated candidate Mohammed Jalal Uddin, Islami Andolon Bangladesh nominated candidate Mohammed Nasir Uddin and Independent candidate Farid Ahmed. The mayoral candidates spoke highlighting their plans in the programme. The peoples then placed their various questions over the main problems and they asked candidates to solve these problems after win in the election. The problems that have come up in the question of citizens are: Improved road communication, waste disposal, to build a clean city, tax reduction,
Empowerment of women, elimination of terrorist activities, drug trafficking and extortion.
The Awami League candidate Jahangir Alam said that if he wins in the election, he will make the city in scientific way by following the model of different countries. He said, I will fulfill the expectations of the citizens including develop waste management system, develop road communication, solve problems of garment workers, build children park etc. He said I will build a modern city with the help of Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
On the other hand, BNP mayoral candidate alhaj Hasan Uddin Sarker said in the programme that due to the control of the central government on the local government organization, the elected representatives cannot work according to their wishes. The central government should not have such control. If he will be elected, he will work with sincerity in fulfilling the expectations of the peoples.
However, all mayoral candidates promised to make this city corporation an accountable, democratic and transparent institution. – Staff Reporter
