Dhaka – A Dhaka court on Sunday placed suspended Gazipur City Corporation mayor MA Mannan on a one-day remand in an extortion case filed with Joydebpur Police Station.Gazipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdul Hye passed the order when police produced MA Mannan, now in jail in another case, before the court with a five-day remand prayer.On November 24, Ramij Uddin, a resident of Shilmon area in Tongi, filed a case against seven people including MA Mannan, on extortion charge.According to the case statement, MA Mannan demand Tk 10 lakh as extortion from him for getting a ‘no objection certificate’ for building a factory on his own land on September 15, 2014.
