‘Geology’s role for development of BD ‘ workshop held at RU

Rajshahi, April 24 – A day-long workshop on ‘The role of Geology for the Development of Bangladesh’ was held at Rajshahi University on Tuesday.Geology and Mining department of the university organized the program with the assistance of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) at Deans’ Complex on the campus.
Chairman of Geology and Mining department and also the sub project manager of HEQEP presided over the program while Imrahim Adham of the department moderated it.
RU Pro-VC Professor Dr. Ananda Kumar Saha addressed the function as chief guest. The program was held in two sessions namely Technical 1 and Technical 2.
Director General of Geological Survey of Bangladesh Dr Rashad Md Ekram Ali, Professor Dr Badrul Imam of Geology department of Dhaka University, Director of Bangladesh Water Developed Board (BWDB) Dr Anwar Zahid, Professor Dr Shafiqul Alam of Geology and Mining department of RU were resource persons at the workshop.
Speakers discussed on the different role of Geology for the development of Bangladesh as well as several ways how the geological resources can be used for Sustainable Development Goals. – RU Correspondent
