Goa GM Chess: Bangladeshi GM Ziaur Rahman finishes 8th

Dhaka – Bangladeshi Grand Master Ziaur Rahman of Saif Sporting Club finished 8th in the 2nd Goa International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament-2019 (Category ‘A’) held in the Indian tourist town of Goa on Tuesday.

He secured 6.5 points after the 10th and last round of the meet.

After the 10th and last round matches, Zia jointly finished 4th, but in the tie breaker he became 8th.

Besides, Tahsin Tajwar Zia became 120th, Mezanur rahman finished 131st with 5 points each, CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh became 157th with 4.5 points, Shawket Bin Osman Shawon became 201st and Md. Anisuzzaman Jewel became 214th with 3.5 points each, Monjur Alam became 221st with 3 points, Md. Abzid Rahman became 236th with 2.5 points while Jodunath Biswas finished 240th with 1.5 points.

In the 10th or last round matches on Tuesday, GM Zia beat GM Aleksandrov Aleksej of Belarus, Tahsin lost to FM Mithil Ajgaonkar of India, Mezan got walk-over against Manish Anto Cristiano of India, CM Chanchal beat Shah Jeet of India, Jewel drew with Shawon, Monjur drew with M A Qureshi of India and Abzid beat Pokhrel Anup of Nepal.UNB
