Gold Fair starts in Barishal

A two day-long fair organised by National Board of Revenue for legalizing undisclosed gold and precious materials, starts at Hotel Grand Park of the city on Monday.
Serniabad Sadik Abdullah, Barishal City Corporation Mayor, flying pigeons and festoons inaugurated the fair as chief guest.
Khairul Islam, commissioner of taxes Barishal taxes region, presided over the inauguration programme.
Among others Saiful Islam, member( taxes and vat administration) of National Board of Revenue, Saidur Rahman Rintu, president Barishal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Shangkar Karmakar, district president of Bangladesh Jewelers Association.
Speakers said although it was named as Gold-Fair, businessmen by disclosing amounts of gold, silver, diamond and other precious materials in this fair participant jewelers could legalize their undisclosed materials by paying taxes Tk.1000 per tola of gold of equivalent.
It will increase tax and revenue collection of the country and prevent illegal and smuggling trading of gold and other precious materials, the opined.
There are seven stalls including three for disclosing undisclosed amounts of gold and precise materials by the jewelers of six districts of the division, two booths of Janata and Sonali Banks, issuing 12-digit TIN and help desk.
