Jan 8: The World Bank’s Bangladesh Country Director said on Tuesday she remains ‘optimistic’ about the global lender financing the Padma bridge project.
Ellen Goldstein said there have been talks with other financers of the infrastructure project. “I remain optimistic that the World Bank will finance this project,” she said.
When asked about the report of the Bank’s external panel of experts, she said it was a ‘continuous process’ and added that report would be submitted within January.
She said the First Information Report (FIR) sent by the Anti-Corruption Commission was being scrutinised and hoped to reach a solution through it.
