Govt minister Tofail claims, Khaleda Zia not ill at all

Claiming that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is completely well, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday said the party is hatching a conspiracy to send her abroad in the name of treatment.

“Khaleda Zia is not ill. She is completely fine. Why does not she get admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University or CMH (Combined Military Hospital) if she is ill?” he said while talking to reporters after attending a rally organised by local Awami League at Digholodi union of Sadar upazila.

Tofail also said the issue of alternative hospitals would have come had there been any negligence in her treatment. “She has chosen a specific hospital where she’ll ask the physicians of her choice to recommend her treatment abroad. A conspiracy is on to send her abroad.”

He further said the Election Commission which was formed as per the recommendations put forward by a search committee is acceptable to all. “It’ll be wise for BNP to take part in the next election,” he said, adding that the party will have to pay heavily if it repeats the same mistake.
