Govt monitoring private TV activities, Inu tells JS

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Thursday said the government is monitoring all the activities, including talk-show and news, of all private television channels through the Bangladesh Television.

The lawmaker came up with the disclosure while addressing parliament in response to a question from lawmaker Apu Ukil on Thursday.

He told the House said a team comprising five-members working in the monitoring cell of BTV in temporary basis. A process to form full time monitoring cell is underway.

The monitoring cell will submit a report to the ministry after capturing many programmes of private television channels, he told the House.

Inu also told the House at present some 22 private television channels are broadcasting its programmes.

The government has formed a seven-member committee to formulate a broadcast policy-2012 by discussing with related stakeholder.

Inu also said the government urged the Public Works Ministry to resolve the journalist’s accommodation problem within short span of time.

The eighth newspaper wage-board would be implemented before June this year, he added.banglanews24.com
