BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said the current ‘illegal’ government’s throne will go upside down any time when the mass movement will gather pace.
“As part of its regular random arrest and filing false cases across the country, this illegal government arrested 19 leaders, including the Rajshahi University unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president and general secretary, yesterday (Sunday) night only for fear of losing power,” he said.In a statement, he said, “The throne of this illegal government that has got isolated from people will collapse any time, and that will be ensured through a mass movement.”
The statement was issued protesting the arrest of the 19 opposition men in Rajshahi in a ‘false’ case.
Mentioning that people are fed up with the brutal misrule by the government that assumed office through a ‘voter-less’ election, Fakhrul said Awami League did not take lesson from its past dire consequences for repressing people and imposing one-party misrule.
He warned that the ruling party must pay dearly for its continuous barbaric attacks on people and its revengeful politics.
The BNP leader demanded the government immediately release the arrested Rajshahi BNP men and withdraw the ‘false’ case filed against them.
Fakhrul also condemned the police raid on Jubo Dal leader Nazrul Islam Azad’s Gulshan residence and damage of its valuables. – UNB
