Greens for roadmap to Paris climate summit

Several green groups on Wednesday demanded a roadmap towards preparation and process of Paris climate conference, which should be inclusive, participatory and transparent.
They also urged the Prime Minister to take lead in CoP (Conference of Parties) 21 Paris climate conference, which will be held in Paris on November 29 to December 11 this year.They made the demand at a press conference jointly organised by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolan (BAPA), Bangladesh Indigenous People’s Network on Climate Change and Bio Diversity (BIPNetCCBD), Bangladesh Climate Change Journalist Forum (BCJF), Climate Change Development Forum (CCDF), Campaign for Sustainable Rural Livelihood (CSRL), Equity and Justice Working Group Bangladesh (EquityBD) and Forum for Environment Journalist in Bangladesh (FEJB) at the Jatiya Press Club.
Moderated by Rezaul Karim Chowdhury of EquityBD, the press conference was also addressed by Qumrul Islam Chowdhury of FEJB, Dr Abdul Matin of BAPA, Ziaul Haque Mukta of CSRL, Aminur Rasul Babul of Unnayan Dhara, Mostafa Kamal Akhanda of COAST and Sayed Aminul Haque of EquityBD.
In his speech, Qumrul Islam Chowdhury called for not ignoring two decades of negotiation experiences in this regard, saying the LDCs must demand a legally binding Paris Protocol.
Dr Matin expressed frustration over the poor performances of Environment and Forests Ministry’s in CoP 20 Lima which was basically dependent upon bureaucrats. – News Desk
