Law enforcers recovered seven grenades, three bombs and three suicide vests from a ‘militant den’ in Namagenda area here, on the outskirts of the capital, on Saturday.

A bomb disposal unit of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) resumed their operation at the suspected militant hideout in a six-storey under-construction building around 10:40 am, said Dhaka district police Superintendent Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman at a press briefing after the end of the drive around 2:30pm.

During the operation, they broke into a room on the first floor of the building, owned by banker Shakib, and found seven grenades, three bombs and three suicide vests which were defused later, he said.

However, there was no arrest during the drive as two suspected militants, including Monir, managed to flee cutting window grill on the ground floor after getting information of drive in Anwar’s house, 200 yards off Sakib’s building.

However, law enforcers found nothing in two other suspected militant dens-one owned by Anwar and another by Halim, in the same area, he said.
