Justice Habibur Rahman was laid to rest after the nation paid its last respects.
The former Chief Justice was buried in Banani graveyard at 5pm Monday.
Several Justices were present along with his relatives at the funeral.
Three namaj-e-janaza were held for Habibur Rahman with the first at Central Shaheed Minar. The second was at the Supreme Court, his long-time office. The last was held at Gulshan’s Azad Mosque in the afternoon.
People from all walks of life poured to offer their tributes the Central Shaheed Minar.
His Kulkhani will be held at Azad Mosque after Asr prayers on Tuesday, said his relatives.
Habibur Rahman had been rushed to the United Hospital after he fell ill on Saturday night where the doctors declared him dead. He was 85.
Habibur Rahman resigned as the Chief Justice in 1995. He headed the caretaker government of 1996 and oversaw the 7th national election.-bdnews24.com
