Hartal clashes kill 23 in six districs

At least 23 people were killed and dozens injured in clashes between Jamaat-Shibir activists and law enforcers in six districts during countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal on Sunday.
Bogra: At least 12 people, including three women were killed, and dozens others injured as Jamaat-Shibir men attacked Shahjahanpur Thana and were locked in a clash with police early hours of hartal in the day.
Rajshahi: At least two people, a woman and a boy, were killed and six others received bullet injury in a clash between police and Jamaat-Shibir men at Godagari upazila of the district.
Joypurhat: At least six people were killed and 21 others sustained bullet-wound during a clash between Shibir and police in the district.
Jhenidah: An on-duty police constable was killed and 20 others injured as Jamaat-Shibir men attacked police in district’s Harinakunda upazila in the morning.
Gazipur: An upazila-level Shibir leader was allegedly killed in police firing while picketing in Joina Bazar area under Sreepur upazila during the hartal hours in the morning.
Satkhira:  One person was killed and six others, including BGB personnel, were injured in a clash between Jamaat-BGB in the district town.
The countrywide three-day non-stop hartal, separately enforced by opposition BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, is underway from Sunday amid  violence.
