Leader of the opposition Khelda Zia on Monday said the opposition would consider withdrawal of hartal immediately when the entire cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigns.
She made this comment during a meeting with a 16-member delegation led by president of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League Bongobir Kader Siddiqui, Bir Uttom and secretary general of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh Maj (Retd) Abdul Mannan at her Gulshan residence on late Monday night.Talking to reporters after a brief meeting, Kader Siddiqui said they urged the opposition leader to withdraw the ongoing hartal considering the problems of the people.
In response the BNP chairperson said they would only withdraw the hartal when the entire cabinet led by the prime minister resigns, he said.
The BKSJL leader further said the opposition leader would with the hartal immediately after the government takes the initiative for understanding.
About submission of resignation letters by ministers to the prime minister, Kader Siddiqui said it was only for the benefit of gallery show.
He also termed the tendering of resignation by ministers as drama and said the prime minister should not have staged such a drama.
IN accordance with the constitution, the government should have resigned 90 days before the tenure of Parliament, he added.
