BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah on Friday accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of violating constitution by asking BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to go to Pakistan.“She (Hasina) has not only violated the constitution but also made an attack on the country’s independence and sovereignty by telling Khaleda Zia to go out of the country. She (Khaleda) is a leader of the soil and the people,” he said at a roundtable, organised by ‘Democratic Movement,’ at the Jatiya Press Club.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, addressing a discussion meeting in the capital, said, “The real face of the opposition leader (Khaleda Zia) has now got exposed before the country… stop killing and torching vehicles, power stations and public property. Go to your (Khaleda’s) ‘Peyara Pakistan’, you’ll feel good there.”
Dismissing Hasina’s remarks, Rafiqul Islam Miah said, “She (Hasina) will have to be accountable before the nation. People will never accept such type of speech violating constitution. She has no right to ask Khaleda Zia to go abroad.”
Meanwhile, another BNP standing committee member MK Anwar also slated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her “indecent remark” against opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
“The immature, indecent language in which you (Hasina) speak does not suit you. This does not raise your prestige. Rather, we all (people) feel ashamed,” he said while addressing a discussion, organised by Bangladesh Jubo Kalyan Party, at the Press Club.
MK Anwar also blamed Hasina for ‘resorting to falsehood’ on each and every issue. He said, “She (Hasina) is worse than a fascist. She has been confusing and misguiding people.”
Expressing surprise at the Finance Minister’s recent remark calling Khaleda Zia ‘leader of terrorism’, the BNP leader asked Muhith not to be impolite towards the opposition leader and said, “Better look at your own face; what the people got from you?” UNB
