Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has promised ‘return of the golden days’ to the people down south while inaugurating Bangladesh’s third sea port at Patuakhali.“Andarmanik will no more be in darkness. The sea port will light up the lives of people. It will open a new horizon for trade and transport,” said Hasina.
Hasina reached Tiakhali in Patuakhali’s Kolapara around noon on Tuesday.
The sea port called Paira Somudro Bandar is located by the river Andarmanik on the Rabnabad Channel.
According to Hasina, the sea port would now require a power plant nearby, and the area would eventually be turned into a specialised economic zone.
She also pledged developing a ship building industry in the area.
“Insallah, Bangladesh will continue to advance,” said Hasina as she claimed credit for amending the Constitution to ensure power for the people.
“I hope we will not be forgotten. Don’t forget the boat”, she said referring to the Awami League poll symbol.
Before arriving Patuakhali, the PM inaugurated a number of government projects, including hospital, school and cyclone centres, at Barguna.
She also unveiled the foundation plaque for different government establishments in Patuakhali.
Addressing a rally at Barguna, Hasina alleged that the BNP and the Jamaat-e-Islami were burning people alive by setting buses on fire.
The Chittagong Port Authority is implementing the sea port project 18 km off the coast at the cost of Tk 2,500 crore. The project will take eight years to finish.-bdnews24.com
