‘Hasina violating polls code:’ BNP

Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina is violating the electoral code of conduct by spending government money for party propaganda in the rundown to the parliament, the BNP has alleged.
Party spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the government of ‘plotting’ to hang on to power even after Parliament is dissolved.
“She (Hasina) is holding rallies in various places, for which government money is being spent, and seeking vote for ‘Boat’ (the ruling Awami League’s electoral symbol),” Fakhrul said on Sunday.
“It’s a complete violation of the electoral code of conduct,” he said at a ceremony held at the grave of Ziaur Rahman to pay tributes the BNP’s founder President on the party’s foundation day.
He said the rallies reinforced the fear that fair polls were not possible under the present administration, as “they have already started violating poll regulations”.
The Prime Minister recently held rallies at various places including Dhaka and Chittagong, appealing to the people to vote for the ruling coalition to help maintain the ‘pace of development’. –    bdnews24.com
