HC asks govt: Don‘t harass or arrest Fakhrul

The High Court (HC) directed the government not to harras or arrest BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in new case for the next two months ‘without proper legal procedure’.

An HC bench comprising Justice Hasan Foyej Siddique and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain passed the interim order Sunday.

HC also issued a rule asking the government to explain within two weeks why it should not be directed not to implicate Fakhrul in any more case without the due legal process.

Home secretary, Inspector General of Police, Detective Police Department, additional IGP of special branch, Deputy of Commissioner of Dhaka, deputy commissioner (prosecution) of CMM court, DMP Commissioner, Jailer of Dhaka Central Jail, SP of Gazipur and Kashimpur Jail-2 were made respondents to the rule.

The next hearing in this regard will be held on February 14.

Mirza Fakhrul was arrested from in front of BNP central office in city’s Nayapaltan on December 10 of last year.

Later he was shown arrest in some cases and kept in jail.banglanews24.com
