HC verdict on second chance for admission to DU

The High Court has fixed Wednesday for delivering its verdict on the petition against the decision of the Dhaka University (DU) authority not to allow students to sit for the university’s admission test for the second time.

An HC bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi M Ejarul Haque Akanda fixed the date after a hearing on the petition on Tuesday.

Earlier on October,14, 2014, the Dhaka University authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear at its admission tests in a single year from the 2015-16 academic session, aiming to create an equal opportunity for all the aspirants.

A total of 16 guardians, including Minara Begum, filed the writ petition with the High Court earlier in the day challenging the legality of the decision.

March 16, the HC issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the decision not to allow students to sit for the DU admission test for the second time would not be declared illegal.- UNB
