Head of Tonu’s second autopsy board seeks security after threat

Comilla – The head of a medical board, which has conducted the 2nd autopsy on the body of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, has sought police security following the death threat, Unb news agency reported.
Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha, also head of the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital, sent a letter to the police super’s office on Wednesday afternoon seeking security for him and his family. Earlier on Tuesday, he received the threat through an anonymous letter.In his letter, the physician mentioned that he was feeling mentally depressed and insecure after receiving the death threat.
Police super M Shah Abid Hossain said he received a letter from KP Saha requesting for ensuring his security.
Meanwhile, legal notices have been served on the physicians who conducted autopsies on the slain college student’s body.
President of Bangladesh Jatiya Mohila Ainjibi Samity Advocate Salma Ali on behalf of Tonu’s father sent notices to three doctors asking why legal action will not be taken against them for not getting any evidence of rape in the first autopsy and for making delay in revealing the second autopsy report.
The notices were sent to Mohsin-uz-Zaman Chowdhury, principal of Comilla Medical College Hospital, Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha, head of the Forensic Department of the hospital, and Dr Sharmin Sultana, who conducted the first autopsy.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, the second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment on March 20.
