Hearing in Holey Artisan Bakery case deferred to Mar 27

Dhaka, March 21 – An anti-terror special court of Dhaka on Thursday adjourned till March 27, the hearing of a case filed under the anti-terror act over the grisly militant attack at the capital’s Holey Artisan Bakery in 2016.
Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal of Dhaka set the date after examining five prosecution witnesses. The witnesses are- Renkim, widow of then Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Police Station Salauddin, Nur Jahan Islam, driver Shariful Islam and caretakers of that building Daud and Habib.
Militants killed 20 innocent people, most of them foreigners, in the attack carried out on July 1, 2016. Two police officials laid down their lives while trying to save people on the spot.
Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation. Police filed the case under the anti-terror act with Gulshan Police Station.
The trial was initiated on November 26, 2018, framing charges against the eight accused.
The eight accused are- Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Rashedul Islam alias Rash, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam and Mamunur Rashid. – Correspondent
