Hillary’s surprise appearance at ‘Black Girls Rock’

Newark — Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance Saturday at the taping of Black Entertainment Television’s “Black Girls Rock” show in Newark, New Jersey.

The Democratic presidential candidate said black women are “change makers and pathmakers and ground shakers.”

She said her life has been changed by strong black women leaders, including Marian Wright Edelman, the president and founder of the Children’s Defence Fund, the late poet and author Maya Angelou and the late civil rights activist Dorothy Height.

Clinton introduced a video honouring Beverly Bond, the founder of Black Girls Rock.

Attendees at the awards show included singers Rihanna, Monica Brown, Kelly Rowland and others.
