Ho Chi Minh recalled on his 125th birth anniversary

The glorious role of Ho Chi Minh the founder of Vietnam was recalled and his struggle for the freedom of the Vietnamese people eulogised at a discussion meeting organised by the Sir Nawab Salimullah Academy at the National Press Club on Thursday.
The Ambassador of Vietnam, Nguyen Quang Thuc was the chief guest at the discussion meeting while the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander A Nikolaev, editor of GreenWatch Dhaka Mostafa Kamal Majumder, DMD of Prime Islami Life Insurance Amran Hassan, Major (retd) M Hanif were special guests at the function.A paper on the life and works of Ho Chi Minh by Dr. Mostafizur Rahman of the People’s University of Bangladesh was presented at the seminar held with Muhammad Abdul Jabbar, president, Nawab Salimullah Academy in the chair.
Earlier a documentary on the life and works of Ho Chi Minh was screened.
Ambassador Nguyen Quang Thuc in his brief address said that chairman Ho was not only a leader but also a friend of the people. The great leader was a good manager and charted concrete and practical ways to achieving progress.
Referring to his character traits he said Ho Chi Minh was very simple and honest in his thought, and both private and political life.
Russian Ambassador Alexander Nikolaev said that Ho Chi Minh was respected as a great leader not only in Indo-China but also the whole world. Under his leadership the Vietnamese people achieved freedom from colonial rule. Under his leadership and inspiration the people of Vietnam won the war and democratically united the two parts of the country.
He said that Russia – then under the framework of the Soviet Union – supported the liberation war of Vietnam. The same way Russian supported the Bangladesh liberation war. The two nations were united and achieved independence on the basis of their real democratic values. – Staff Reporter
