Hockey players accorded reception

Dhaka – Bangladesh national hockey team was accorded a warm reception Wednesday evening through a formal ceremony for emerging as three times champions in the recently concluded Man’s AHF Cup Hockey.The reception ceremony was held at the conference room of National Sports Council, said a press release today (Thursday).Salman F Rahman, adviser of private sector development affairs to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was the chief guest in the reception ceremony and handed over the crests to the members of the winning team. Deputy Minister on Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, MP, was present as special guest.Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza and National Sports Council Secretary (Joint Secretary) Ashok Kumar Biswas, among others, were present on the occasion.Earlier, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the final to emerge as champion. This remarkable victory was the third straight title in a row after 2008 (Singapore) and 2012 (Thailand) since the tournament was introduced in 1997.This triumph also enabled boys in red and green to ensure a direct entry into next year`s Asia Cup.-BSS
