Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks advance at open

Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks opened higher on Tuesday on hopes the Chinese government will soon announce a date to link trading between the Shenzhen and Hong Kong bourses, and after a strong lead from Wall Street.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.55 percent, or 125.69 points, to 23,058.2 in opening deals.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.17 percent, or 5.33 points, to 3,130.53, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged up 0.15 percent, or 3.10 points, to 2,026.34., reports AFP, HONG KONG.
