Tania Khatun (22), a housewife of village Ghosgati under Mollahat Upazila in the district was allegedly beaten to death on Saturday by her husband as she failed to realize dowry from her parents.It is learnt from the police and the family source of the victim that Bipul Shaikh, husband of more than one wives and son of one Abdur Rob Shaikh of the same village married Tania Khatun, daughter of one Rakit Shikdar of adjacent village Gangni-Matarchar 4 years ago. But just after the marriage the greedy husband used to torture Tania Khtun physically for realizing dowry. On Friday the husband beat Tania Khatun mercilessly for the same reason. As a result, she was fatally injured. In the following morning she was admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex where she succumbed to her injuries on the same day at noon while she was under treatment. Being confirmed about the death of Tania husband Rabiul and his relatives fled away form the hospital leaving the dead body there. But no case was lodged with the local PS till the writing of this report.
