HSC examinee hit as city garbage collectors fire shot on rivals

An HSC candidate suffered bullet injuries when a local group opened fire on its rivals over collecting household garbage in the city’s Dakkhinkhan area on Friday morning.
The injured was identified as Md Ruman Hossain, 19, who is appearing at the ongoing HSC examination from BFF Shaheen College in the city.
Officer-in-charge of Dakkhinkhan Police Station Shamim-or-Rashid told UNB that some 2-3 youths have long been engaged in collecting household waste from door to door in Ainusbagh area near the police station in exchange for money.Hannan was trying to take control of the business of collecting waste. Over the issue, he along with his accomplices attacked the rivals around 10:30am today when they fired several gunshots.
Ruman Hossain, who along with his friends was passing by the area, sustained bullet injuries to his right thigh in the firing, the OC said adding that police arrested Hannan and recovered two licenced firearms –– one pistol and one shotgun–– from his possession.
Family members rushed Ruman to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was given first aid. However, he will have to undergo a surgery to remove the bullet from the thigh after his exam. – UNB
