The Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, is expected to be celebrated on June 16 next, depending on moon sighting.

Over six million people are expected to leave the capital by trains, buses, and water vessels for their respective village homes to celebrate the Eid holidays with their near and dear ones.

Bangladesh Railway also announced that seven special trains will operate during the Eid rush to ensure a hassle-free journey for the public.

Meanwhile, private bus operators started selling advance tickets from May 30 ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Amid the growing demand ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, domestic airlines have decided to operate additional flights on different routes to serve more homebound passengers.

Unusual traffic congestions on Dhaka-Chattogram highway, the busiest highway of the nation, have prompted the airlines’ authorities to come up with the decision as many people look unwilling to travel by roads.
