The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 37 foreigners and two Bangladeshis with a huge cache of illegal VoIP instruments from a house in the capital’s Uttara. The elite crime-busters raided the six-storey building on Road no. 28 at Uttara’s sector no. 12 on Sunday night, said RAB-1 commander Kismat Hayat.
He told bdnews24.com: “The arrestees had rented the whole building. Thirty-two of the foreigners are Taiwanese and five others are Chinese.”
Hayat could not say how many VoIP instruments had been seized or what was their market value.
The RAB official was speaking to bdnews24.com during the raid being conducted around 9pm on a tip-off.
“We will brief the media after the raid ends,” Hayat added.
