Human chain organised in Rangpur demanding peace

The district unit of Sushashoner Janno Nagorik (SHUJAN) organised a human chain here on Saturday demanding peace and harmony in the society immediately ending violence and killing of innocent people.While addressing the human chain, the speakers demanded for banning of the religion-based politics, using religion in politics and establishing permanent understanding among the pro-liberation political parties for launching healthy politics in the country.Secretary of Rangpur district unit of SHUJAN and valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain moderated the human chain participated by common people, civil society members, teachers, professionals, socio-cultural activists, freedom fighters and elites.Valiant freedom fighters Advocate Elias Ahmed and Mozaffar Hossain
Chand, President of district unit of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad Hasna Chowdhury, women leaders Dilara Hossain Dulari and Sharmin Akhter, Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu, addressed.Noted citizens including Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Atoaruzzaman Lanchu,Professor Rakibul Hassan, Alauddin Mian, Dr Nasima Akhter, Advocate Zakia Sultana Choitee, Abu Layek Khan Tota, Ira Haque, Golam Sajjad Haider, Bablu Nag, SHUJAN members Asaduzzaman Afzal and Rajesh Dey also addressed the human chain programme. The speakers strongly condemned the politics of confrontation, communalism, blockade, hartal, violence, anarchy, terrorism, militancy, destruction and killing of innocent people by hurling petrol bombs in the name of political movements. They demanded for bringing an immediate end to all sorts of violence and urged the BNP-led 20-party alliance for coming back to the democratic political process to establish peace and harmony in the society and save the nation. There is no alternative to long-term mutual understanding among the pro-liberation political forces for advancing the nation towards sustainable development, prosperity and peace in line with the core spirit of the War of Liberation. -BSS, Rangpur
