Dhaka – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Russia’s state corporation-Rosatom has agreed to join hands in improving nuclear infrastructure in the countries, those are just opting for nuclear power development.
Yukiya Amano, Director General of the IAEA, and Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom signed an agreement to this effect on April 19 in Vienna. The agreement was initiated by Rosatom.‘The cooperation includes, in particular, nuclear trainings, development of the industry regulations, analysis of safety of every facilities, those are to be made under the auspices of IAEA’, said Alexey Likhachev Rosatom’s CEO told that one of the issues discussed at the meeting with IAEA Director General was the importance of project evaluation from the point of view of its cost effectiveness and safety.
Rosatom is the Russian state atomic energy corporation bringing together over 255, 000 people in 350 enterprises and scientific institutions including all Russian civil nuclear companies, research organizations and the world’s only nuclear-propelled icebreaker fleet. Under an intergovernmental agreement Rosatom is implementing the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh, which consists of two VVER power units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW.
