ICC Champs Trophy: India miss deadline, 7 other nations announce squads

Dhaka – Seven nations announced their squads for the 8th edition ICC Championship Trophy while defending champion India failed to do so within the deadline April 25.Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told the ICC that it could not submit the squad for “operational” reasons, according to Espn report on Wednesday.According to a BCCI official, the delay was inevitable. With the BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhury and CEO Rahul Johri attending the ICC meetings this week, and captain Virat Kohli playing the IPL, all concerned parties couldn’t be in one place at the same time to pick the squad.”We have told the ICC the reason behind the delay. We have told them we will announce it soon,” the official told.Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on April 20, announced the Tigers squad for the ICC Champions Trophy recalling pace bowler Shafiul Islam in the squads.Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s men will play host England in the opening match of the Champions Trophy at Kennington Oval in London on Jun 1.
