Imam killed in Sylhet road crash

An imam was killed as a truck ran over him on the Sylhet-Dhaka Highway
at Rashidpur intersection in Biswanath upazila of the district on
Monday.
The deceased was identified as Badrul Islam, 25, son of late Kudrat
Ullah, resident of Telijuri village in Jointapur upazila, and a
student of a local madrasa.
Sub-inspector Mahmud of Dakkin Surma Police Station said a stone-laden
speeding truck from Sylhet losing control skidded off the highway
running over Badrul and his brother Suman around 4:30am while they
were going to mosque.
Badrul died on the spot while Suman received injuries.
Suman was later admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital
(SOMCH) in critical condition.
Angered by the accident, locals blocked the highway for about an hour.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation
under control.
The body was sent to the SOMCH morgue for autopsy, added the SI.
