India hands over bodies: Dhaka protests killing of 3 nationals in Tripura

Bangladesh on Monday officially lodged a strong protest with the Indian authorities against the killing of three Bangladesh nationals by Indian civilians in Tripura.
Voicing deep concern over the matter, Bangladesh also urged the Indian authorities to launch an inquiry into the atrocious incident, said a Foreign Ministry media note.Bangladesh also asked India to take appropriate actions at the earliest against those responsible in the atrocious killing.
It is learnt from the Indian side that some Indian nationals have already been arrested in Tripura by the local authorities in this connection, the release said.
It further said the matter is being followed up with the Indian authorities both from Dhaka and New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Indian authorities handed over the bodies of the three Bangladeshi victims on Monday evening.
The victims were identified as Siddique Ali, 52, Anwar Miah, 40, and Omar Ali, 45, — all hailing from Gazipur union of Chnarughat upazila. They were chopped to death at Khowai town in India’s Tripura state, close to the border in Chunarughat upazila. – UNB
Meanwhile, bodies of three Bangladesh nationals killed by Indian civilians in Tripura were handed over to Bangladesh border guards here on Monday night.
Second-in-command of Teliamora camp of Indian Border Security Force Birendra Vajpayee and Khowai Police Station officer-in-charge Narayan Chakrawarty handed over the bodies to Border Guard Bangladesh through Balla border in Chunarughat upazila around 7:45pm.
Lt Col Chowdhury Saiful Islam Kawser, commanding officer of BGB Srimangal battalion, received the bodies. Tajul Islam, chairman of Gazipur union in Chunarughat, was also present.
The three Bangladeshi nationals — Siddique Ali, 52, Anwar Miah, 40, and Omar Ali, 45, — all hailing from Gazipur union of Chunarughat upazila, were chopped to death in the Khowai town of Tripura state, close to the border, on Saturday night.
Sector commander of BGB Srimangal Col Tariqul Islam Khan said some Indian villagers hacked the trio to death suspecting them to be cattle lifters as they were returning home with cattle.
The bodies of the three Bangladeshis were returned soon after Bangladesh requested the Indian authorities to immediately hand over their bodies, and launch a probe into the atrocious incident.
Bangladesh also asked India to take appropriate actions at the earliest against those responsible in the atrocious killing. – UNB
