Indian smuggler killed, 2 BGB men hurt in clash in Joypurhat

An Indian smuggler was killed and two members of Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB) were injured in a clash between BGB members and
smugglers along Hatkhola-Uchna border in Panchbibi upazila early
Sunday.
Lt Col Sabbir Khasru Ali, Commanding officer of Joypurhat BGB-3, said
when a BGB patrol team challenged a group of smugglers who intruded
into Bangladesh territory around 3:30 am they attacked the BGB men
with sharp weapons, leaving two BGB men wounded.
BGB men also fired three rounds of gunshot in a bid to bring the
situation under control, leaving one of the smugglers injured.
At one stage, the smugglers returned to there own territory with the
injured man.
Later, BGB officials came to know that one of the smugglers, who
received bullet wound during BGB firing, succumbed to his injuries in
Indian territory.
The injured BGB men-nayek Mosharref and sepahi Motiar Rahman- were
admitted to Joypurhat BGB Battalion hospital.
BGB men seized a cow from the border area abandoned by the smugglers.
