An indigenous youth, who went missing on Monday, was found dead at
Madhaipur village in Gomostapur upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nimai Tirki, 22, son of Srikanto Tirki
of the village.
Police said local people spotted the body of Nimai in a mango orchard
of the village in the morning and informed them.
Later police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue
for autopsy.
Victim’s wife Sakali said Nimai remained missing since after he was
called out of the house by his friend Tojammel, son of Sultan Mondal
of Sukhandighi village of Niyamatpur upazila of Noagaon district, at
about 8.00pm on Monday.
Victim’s uncle Niranjon Tirki filed a murder case with Gomostapur
Police Station.
Firoz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station said
police suspected that Nimai might have been strangulated to death by
miscreants.
