Int’l congress on Bengal Studies begins at JU

Savar (Dhaka), 25 Jan – A 4-daylong international conference on Bengal Studies started at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Thursday.The International Society of Bengal studies (ISBS) has organized the conference at JU Zahir Raihan auditorium.
At around 10 am, JU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam, as the chief guest, inaugurated the event while Pro-VC Prof Dr. Abul Hossain and Prof Dr. Amir Hussain and Treasurer Prof Sheikh Md. Monzurul Huq as the special guests.
A total of 250 registered researchers, from around the world, are expected to present their research papers in the conference.
Mentionable, the 1 st int’l congress of Bengal studies took place at Delhi University, India in 2010 while the rest at Dhaka University (DU), Bangladesh in 2011, Kolkata University, India in 2013 and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan in 2015. – JU Correspondent
