Rajshahi, Feb 21 – International Mother Language day has been observed at Rajshahi University through different events. The university authority placed a floral wreath at the university ‘Shaheed Minar’ paying homage to the language martyrs at 12.01 am on 21st February. The national flags were put at half-mast in the university buildings including administration building and dormitories. Teachers’ Association, Officers’ Association, Employees’ Association, Chhatra League, Freedom Fighter unity and other students’ organizations organised ‘Prabhat Feri’ and placed a floral wreath to the university Shaheed Minar from 7 am.
An art and handwriting competition has been held in the morning. University vice-chancellor Prof. M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the competition.
A doa mahfil was held at the central mosque of the university after the Jumma prayer. A cultural program was organized at the Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium of the university at 6.30 pm.
Vice-chancellor Prof. M Abdus Sobhan, pro-vice-chancellors Prof. Ananda Kumar Saha and Prof. Choudhury M Zakaria, Treasurer AKM Mostafizur Rahman, acting registrar MA Bari, Proctor Prof. Lutfor Rahman, students’ adviser Prof. Laila Anjumand Banu, administrator of public relations office Provash Kumar Karmakar, among others were present at the time of placing floral wreath at the Shaheed Minar. one minute’s silence was observed after this. – RU Correspondent
